Task 1-Quality Assurance


Develop SSL Quality Assurance by working to clarify the SSL market worldwide, to reduce the risk in using SSL and to provide Governments and consumers with recommendations that they can trust when investing in SSL products.

 

Sub-task

1.1: Define Product Categories

A. Create detailed work programme

B. Define product categories, key performance characteristics and review related test methods

Key Deliverables

  • Define Product categories.

  • Determine key performance characteristics – luminous flux, luminous efficacy, chromaticity, colour rendering, life (lumen maintenance, etc.), safety characteristics, flicker, dimming, etc.

  • Create reference document of existing test methods.

  • Determine needed test methods.

1.2: Minimum Performance Values

  • Determine the suite of metrics and values to define minimum performance values of SSL for energy efficiency, lighting quality, and safety.

1.3: Product declaration marks and tested value reporting

  • Propose recommendations for product declaration marks that certifying that a product has been tested appropriately and making the tested values publicly available.

  • Propose an international scale of performance rating tiers that will help governments with their labelling and regulation initiatives.

1.4: Life cycle cost analysis and

Environmental impact study

  • Analyse the Life Cycle Costs (LCC) and the environmental impact of SSL based on available published material.

1.5: Replacement lamp equivalency claims

  • Create a specification for equivalency claims for LED replacement lamps when compared with common incandescent lamps, by category of lamps.
